Halcyon

At the end of BGE, Nietzsche discusses his encounter with Dionysos, and says that the god replied with his halcyon smile. This seems to me like a late discovery.. Any thoughts on this subject?
Knowing how to wash oneself clean. - You must learn how to emerge out of unclean situations cleaner, and if necessary to wash yourself with dirty water.
